Description:1863 dated long pattern watercap fuse for use in huge spherical shells. For this reason these are sometimes called "monitor type" fuse adapters. They are significantly longer than the common watercap time fuse adapters. This is to reach further into the powder cavity of the shell for better ignition.

This one is clearly fired, probably into the Charleston defenses. I have only seen these with 1863 or 1862 date stamps.
