Description:Regular Schenkl percussion fuse with a tinned copper extension chamber added. This was done to reach deeper into the big caliber shells' powder cavities. You can see the slider still inside.

These were recovered at the Mare Island navy base where they had been dumped into the Napa River and then dredged back up onto the beach to make the river deeper for submarine traffic in the 1930s
