Description:
Vent pick of the type recovered from the USS Cairo shipwreck. These were used through the touch hole of cannons to punch a hole in the powder bags. They are distinctive because of the leather wrapped pad on the end to protect the palm of the gunner's hand. This one has a small crack in the leather but the area of the tear seems to be stable.
