Description:Vent prick used by the Union navy. This has a padded end to protect the sailor's palm when pushing it into the cannon vent hole. I have seen these with pointed tips as well as this type of tip. I am not sure why this tip type was made the way it is.

These have been recovered from the wreck of the USS Cairo.
