Description:The carbine snap swivel goes on the carbine sling which is used by Cavalry troopers to keep their carbines handy while mounted and rendered the trooper's hands free maintain the reins while mounted. Constructed of polished steel, this marked artifact has two components: snap hook and its steel sling loop. Measures 6½" in total length. Bears a stamping of "T.J. Shepard". This maker-marked swivel is typical Federal cavalryman's issued equipment. Perfect for display in any cavalry collection.
