Description:This is a great educational half shell frag. This 3 inch Hotchkiss was fired into Atlanta and blew up. Unlike most, when it blew somehow the cup band and lower portion of the nose remained intact essentially preserving the lower half of the shell. still visible are the flame grooves and rifling. A very neat aspect of this half shell is that the casting nail is still very visible in good shape down in the powder cavity. This is a neat piece to display with your Hotchkiss shells. This must have been an early dig as it looks to be covered with varnish rather than the polyurethane usually seen today.

Shell is inert, cleaned and coated.
