Description:Nose section of a 3in Hotchkiss case shot shell. This nicely shows the inner workings of this ingenious shell with the powed chamber beneath the "pusher plate" which in turn projected the shot out the nose of the shell by breaking the shell where the walls were thinnest up near the fuse adapter. Has the remnants of a snuffed out paper time fuse pushed down inside from hitting at tree or earth.
