Description:This is a nice half shell found and cut by Terry Waxham, renowned relic hunter from northern Louisiana. He mostly hunted in the area around Mansfield where he lived but also found a good number of shells in Vicksburg. It certainly looks like Vicksburg iron.
This half shell has really nice yellow matrix holding the case balls in place. Note that two of the ball slices were lost over the years but most are there. It also has a relatively clean powder cavity. The shell used an iron under plug. Much of the white metal Bormann fuse in still present and it is in much better condition most Bormanns that get cut.
This is a really nice example.
