The Gardiner's patent explosive bullets are highly sought after, but during the war their use was controversial on both sides. As a result many were discarded at Chancellorsville and Gettysburg (prevelant in 11th corps and 3rd NH positions. Better condition than most as even some of the patent information lettering is still intact on the base rime.
