Description:
This is a very hard to get canister for the 24 pounder gun. It was put together by Dave Gotter who has made a great many reconstructed canisters and his work has been on our site many times in a variety of calibers. Both Mike and I have many examples in our collections.
This example is for the 24 pounder Howitzer which is made of 48 of the 1.3" balls glued to match the original configuration. Then the top and bottom plates are attached. The bottom plate is the correct thick plate unfired and the top is the correct thinner plate that may be reproduction but looks very good if it is. For any caliber canister the original thin top plates are very hard to get as they were likely destroyed when fired or rust away. As you can see this canister has a very nice dark even finish.
Don't miss this example. They are hard to get!
Projectile is inert, cleaned and coated.
