As a fuse collector, these are one of my favorite shells. In October of 1862 the Confederate Army prohibited the use of Bormann fuses due to problems with them prematurely igniting. The simple solution was a copper time fuse adapter that was oversized to fit the 1-5/8" Bormann fuse hole. These are hard-to-find fuse adapters and sell for as much alone as this entire shell is being sold for.

This is a nice condition CS iron-plugged sideloade case shot shell with a pristine Bormann replacement fuse adapter. Currently, it has not been drilled because of the challenges of drilling a ball filled with iron shot and the fact that the alternative is to drill through the bottom of the rare time fuse adapter. We will leave this option up to the buyer.
