Description:Rarity 9 stand of grape for the 7in (42pdr) gun. This is an amazing piece that has been proudly displayed in my personal collection for a long time as shown in the last photo under the read arrow.

100% original from Vicksburg, with the only catch being that it only has half of a top plate. That's why this is $2000 less than it would be if the top plate was completely intact.

I got the baseplate with the center bolt, rings and most of the balls off the shelf in the old Corner Drugstore in downtown Vicksburg from the late Joe Gerache himself. Charles Pendleton's Civil War museum is in the very same building now. The half top plate came from another person and was dug in Vicksburg as well.

This stand displays beautifully, especially at eye level or above. I never coated the pieces because I wanted to have them all the same color when I got the elusive top plate. I know there are some of you out there with a $2,000 top plate (JD being one of you), and I will gladly buy your top plate if you don't want to buy this. If you don't have a plate, its priced appropriately relative to what a complete one goes for, and maybe you'll get lucky down the road.

Until then, its a fantastic piece but someone else's turn to steward it for 20+ years. This is one of my favorite items we've ever listed for sale on the site, and on the off chance it doesn't sell here, I'll just put it away until I find that elusive plate!
