Description:12pdr Confederate canister round dug complete at Adams Run, SC. The top is not attached, and that allows viewing of the sawdust still between the shot. Also, the shot are of mismatched sizes which is consistent with late war Confederate use (shove anything that will fit into the canister).
There is a stream in Adams Run where a lot of Confederate ordnance was dumped. Somewhere around here I have a picture of a fellow with a bunch of different rounds he pulled out of there. The plan at the end of the war was for the Eastern armies to join up, but this never happened what with Appomattox and Johnston's subsequent surrender to Sherman in Durham, NC. Batteries from the Chrleston area were headed to this great meet up when they received word of the surrender. With no reason to continue, they dumped their ordnance in the nearest stream and went home.
There is no way on God's green earth that this can be shipped so I will have to deliver it to the buyer or the buyer will have to come get it from me someplace.
