Description:The Read-Parrott is the version of hte Parrott shell still using the stamped wrought iron sabot designed by Robert Parrott's colleague John Read, who went south with the start of the American Civil War.

This shell is an excellent example of the case shot Read-Parrott. The fuse is not native to the shell and easily screws in and out. The fuse has a very nice dug patina. If you look into the fuse hole you can see some lead shot and very bright yellow matrix. The fuse is what is known as the west point style time adapter shown on page 77 of the Chuck Jones fuse book and has a legible "W" cast on face of the adapter. The iron body is in very nice condition with only a few places of ground action. The sabot is in great shape. You're sure to like this one!
