Description:This shell is a 12 pounder cannon ball with a lead side loader plug used to load the iron case shot. These shell aren't rare being a rarity 6 in the D&G 1993 book. But finding one with this bright white of a side loader plug is uncommon. This shell was dug with a nice white lead plug and since it is uncleaned and hasn't been abused by its owners, the plug is still very white. This greatly enhances the display. The iron is good with light peppering of ground action but not bad areas. The fuse still has the greenish patina that came out of the ground and is in very good shape. The shells was inerted through the fuse so there is no hole in the iron.

Note the provenance is in white paint lettering on the side by presumably the digger. There were a few shells in this estate collection done like that. I can remove it if the buyer would like.

Shell is inert, uncleaned and uncoated.
