Description:12pdr howitzer canister round. This is painstakenly built from 48 loose 1.05in iron shot that were recovered on the Salt Creek Line defenses of Savannah. These were Confederate defenses that got flanked and the skedaddling Rebs dropped a lot of artillery as they ran off to the Low Country of South Carolina after Savannah fell to Sherman's forces. Odds are therefore very good that this is a Confederate round, but both sides used them.
Bottom plate is original and top plate is a reproduction. I have an original top plate but it looks like Swiss cheese if you want to add it to the top or swap out the top.
If you do the math, this round is selling for roughly the sum of its parts.
