Description:24pdr sideloaders are rarity 9 projectiles per Dickey & George. This one was recovered from a Confederate fortification on the Nansemond River area in Suffolk, Virginia. The copper fuse adapter unscrews to reveal the case shot inside. The sideplug patina was lost in electrolysis, but I was able to get a chalky surface back on it (as shown in the last photo) that will only get better with time.
