Description:This is a really nice 6-lber Bormann fuse ball made by the Confederates. We know this because of the recess under the threads which the Confederates put in place to use a large gasket under the Bormann fuse to help prevent premature explosions by the flames bypassing the fuse threads. When I got this shell it did not have a fuse or under plug. I found one of my CS slotted under plugs and it screws right in easily. I don't have a fuse yet to screw into it. The shell is maybe a common shell though it came with about 10 bullets that were inside that I forgot to picture. The bullets had no patina and are a bit corroded as they might be from sitting in powder so it might have been a case ball using the British way of making case shot without matrix. The bullets will be included with the purchase. The iron is very good with a shiny polyurethane coating. The shell is a good iron casting with only a slight mold seam. The iron seems to have had some cleaning but still has spots of scale on it and I think might clean up mint. This is a great item for the collection especially if a fuse can be added that is removable.
Shell is inert, cleaned and coated.
