Description:While the Parrott shell is not uncommon, they are uncommon when fired and in this condition. The iron is super clean and very smooth. It displays better than in the pictures. The type II sabot shows the nice brass finish. While fired it only has the faintest of rifling. Measuring shows that the sabot is expanded to confirm it is fired. Especially cool is that the fuse unscrews showing perfect threads. While the fuse is not native to the shell it is the right one as the flat edged fuse hole used the lipped version of the fuse. It screws right in. Not that there is a small crack at the nose presumably from impact but the nose is not deformed so who knows. It is a very minor crack and doesn't distract from the shell at all.

Even more cool is that the base of the shell is stamped with a "3". I can't tell if there is some character or characters in front of the "3". It appears there might be more but I can't be sure. I've only seen a handful of Parrotts with a letter "J" stamped on the base but never a "3". Presumably these stamps are inspector stamps or to indicate a subcontractor but it is not known. If you like good quality shells, this is one.

Projectile is cleaned, coated and inert.
