paper dymo labels
« on: January 31, 2019, 12:13:01 PM »
Thinking about labeling my shells with the newer paper style Dymo labels. I don't want to use a paint pen. If they will stick do you think the sticky on the paper will do any harm? I don't think it will at all but wanted to see if any of you guys had issues or have tried it. I do not like altering any artifact in the very least. Although I DO have some cut shells, if it were up to me I wouldn't have cut any. I know I'm a hypocrite, right?

Not a problem on the iron.   I’d resist putting them on lead sabots.

I use a fluorescent marker that is invisible without the right light. It has the added advantage of being invisible to thieves, so I can ID my stuff later.

Fluorescent, Interesting. I like it. I tried the paper labels. Didn't like the way they looked.

A friend of mine uses magnets to hold business size cards containing lots of info on them.  They are easily moved and removed.  For just a few bucks you can buy some as small as or smaller in diameter than an eraser head and they easily hold the label in place with no damage.  Won't work on brass cannon balls.   ;D

I experimented using different ways.  I settled on using the plastic price holders you see on the peg boards at Target.  I found them on e-bay.  I sent speedenforcer a box of them couple weeks ago.      If he is smarter then me,  maybe he can post a picture for the group to see.  Carl,  I changed the settings on my phone but when I tried to post pics it still came back saying file too large.

If you want to send the pics to me I'll resize them and add them to your post.

Thanks Carl for posting my pictures and for trying to teach me how to post pictures.    I guess my phone just won't let me.

Nice labels.  It really enhances a collection when it is documented.

Each phone and OS release is different. I have an iPhone and it needs to install an app to be able to resize images.  The photo album app that comes with it will crop and make some edits but not resize.  The Androids might have something built in.  What I do is download to my PC and edit and upload.  I do it so much that it doesn't take but a second.

I have increased the space limits so you can now post a 750k file and up to 3mb per post which is up from 450k and 500k.  We'll see how that goes.
