Here is my one and only 6 pounder - a solid shot fired by the Rebel artillery across Bull Run and landing about one mile away in the position of the Federal reserves. Actually, it could have been from either the first or second battles on that holy ground. Only the Rebs were using the old 6 pdr. smoothbores at that time. The Army of Northern VA got rid of most of them during the winter of 1862-63. The Feehan boys in the photo with me have found many shells in Virginia. Their father dug an SNY buckle near my solid shot.
