Unknown Artillery Shell Frags, NEED HELP!
« on: June 19, 2018, 12:22:54 PM »
Hi all!  I am new to this forum and am in need of some help identifying a couple shell frags I found on a recent relic hunting trip.  The site is a Confederate trench site and I've found Parrot, James, Hotchkiss, and case shot frags.  Let me know what you guys think! THANKS!

Welcome!  The top piece has the lathe lug we see on. CS rifled shells like Reads (probably more likely) or Mullanes. The threaded fuse hole opposite should be 1” diameter and 12 tpi.  I am looking at this on my ohone so cannot see things very well, nor tell for sure how mamy different frags you posted.

Hi thanks for the info.  So this frag would have been more than likely part of a CS shell?  I have posted two frags.  There are two frags posted; the first picture is one and the other 4 are of the same 2nd frag, just different views of it.  Thanks again!
