Research help requested.
« on: December 13, 2017, 01:20:08 PM »
I am researching a maker of CW military leather goods from Quincy, IL "Head & Boon" . Can anyone direct me to a site or way to track down government contracts of the time to document they were contracted for work?  Thanks

Jon,  Francis A. Lord's Civil War Encyclopedia, Vol I, Appendix, although admittedly not complete, does not list this company as a Federal Contractor.

I found a listing in the Bazelon & McGuinn book regarding mfg. by Head & Boon. However they were located in Quincy Mass. Had a contract on sept 1, 1861 for 5000 sets each of 69 cal. and 58 cal. infantry accoutrements. That"s all that is listed.  Hope this helps.
