Give'm Both Barrels!

It's taking me some time to get to this but I took some images I wanted to share with those who may not be aware of this interesting creation early in the American Civil War.  In 1862 this was built in Athens Georgia to protect the town from an invasion from the horde from the north.  It never came and testing had its issues.  More info on the building and testing can be found here:

Athens is the home to UGA where I went to school so I remember this gun (these guns?!?!?!?  ;) ) well having enjoyed a few colds ones at some establishments not far from where it sits.   ::)  I had a few evenings where I considered seeing if it still worked but having no easy access to black powder never made the bad decision fortunately!   ;D  About a month ago I took my nephew to Athens to check out the school and of course I had to show him the cannon.  While he liked UGA a lot he decided on school in Colorado.
