Mike, thank you for sharing these stark black and whites—but a hint of the sheer horror of the birth pangs of so-called modern warfare captured for posterity (whether anyone ever heeds such warnings).  I always stand amazed at the human ability to create Hell on earth--what need is any belief in a Hell, when there was the mass delusion know as WWl (wish it were that WWl was the only example).  Forgive me if I wax too emotionally (it is timely that I just finished D.H. Lawrence’s, “England, My England”).

My grandfather was "over there" - unfortunately, he died before I was old enough to talk to him about it.
