One of the good guys for sure.  He will be missed.  So sad.  But I'm happy for the chance to have known him.

Another wealth of information lost to the ages.  I will pray for his family in their time of need.  Rest in peace, Stan.  Another buddy gone to the great relic field in the sky.

I credit Stan with getting me fired up on the hobby second time round.  I had the privilege of living near him for the last 8 years and actually having a good conversation with him a couple of hours before his death.  He was a good husband, father, and friend.  Ask anyone.

time to move this post down to the ' remebering the great ones " section.    I did not know him, but it sounds like he was a stand up guy. I'm sorry for everyone that knew and dealt with him.......

Though I never met him, I had the pleasure of buying several things from Stan over the last year... even up to last week actually. Once had a package get lost in the mail (at no fault of his), that he offered to refund or replace at his loss. It wasn't much, but tells you a lot about the kind of guy he was. Thoughts and prayers with his friends and family. RIP Stan..

Stephen

Carl or Mike, I agree with the plumber with this entire thread needing moved to "Remembering the Great Ones". Can one of you or some computer guru have this thread relocated to the appropriate heading. These are great posts and I would hate to see any of them lost.

I don't know how to do that, Michael and Dave.  Not sure if Carl or Neal can with this software, but if not Jay has started a new thread over there.  We have three now going on his passing, but not so much on his life so maybe in the meantime that thread over there can be devoted more to that.  In posting his obit there, I read it and remembered we were always wanting to go to a Cubs game together but after his grandson was born, he stopped coming up to the Chicago Show.  I had forgotten about the race cars.  I also remembered he was born up this way after reading his obit, but fortunately he was smart enough to get the heck out of Detroit!  I did not know he played golf and would've liked to have had a round with him back when I still played.

Addendum:  Might help if I pressed the "Move topic" button available in the administrator's view of things.  High tech stuff those radio buttons.

Good idea.  I moved the initial one and merged the new one to it.

My name is Josh and I am Stan's eldest son.  Thank you so much for the kind words, we are all missing him like crazy.  It really makes our family feel good to see that he was such a respected member of the relic hunting community.

Our hearts truely go out to you and your family.  As you noted from the comments here, it was obvious Stan was a great guy and people liked being around him.  I have no doubt that was the case with people he knew in all walks of life.  Thanks for joining our community.

Thank you for the warm welcome...glad to be a member here.  I'm going to take the initiative to keep Stanley's relic business alive...that is what he wanted and that is my plan.  I will be researching and learning more about it, though he and I used to discuss relics quite often so I'm not completely clueless.  Looking forward to future conversations here.  Thank you again.
