Hello,
I hope everyone that can make the Mansfield Show will come by and say hello. For those who don't know, this is the biggest Civil War (and some other) Show in the country. It also has a lot of living history including bunches of cannon from the Rev War into the 1900's that do frequent firing. It is really a sight to see. As a plus, Mike and I will have a good bit of new stuff at this show. As you've probably seen on our sales site, Mike will have some incredible bullets for the serious lead heads.
As always at the shows, this is a good time to bring by any shells that need drilled or cleaned.
Hope to see y'all there.

maybe next year. hopefully going to Gettysburg this year.
-
Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

Can't wait but have a warm up at the Wheaton, Illinois show this weekend. Won't even unpack my vehicle between shows!

if I counted right 66 days to Gettysburg show

You've got to have helper springs on your ride with the loads that you carry around.

Its a relatively heavy duty vehicle, but the check engine light just came on this morning so I guess I know what I'll be doing tomorrow. Last time this happened I took it to Richmond for the show and after to haul back a boat howitzer I bought out East. As soon as I pulled into the show parking lot (e.g., the absolute furthest point from home and before getting the cannon to haul back across the mountains) the light went on. I think it must sense impending pain and send up a little cry for help.

Less than 12 hours until setup starts at Wheaton. :) Then onward to Mansfield. Looking forward to both shows and seeing everyone there.

So much for a "warm up." We had a blizzard! Foot traffic was good because noone could do anything outside, and I suspect they didn't want to leave the building once they were indoors dry and warm. Good show.
Packing up to go was nasty. So much for my plans of organizing everything in my vehicle to go straight to Mansfield. In that weather, I just threw everything in the back of it as fast as possible.

Blizzard ??!! I went to the beach yesterday, got sunburn and took a [ cool ] swim. Blizzard ??!! Time to move south my friend...

I'm bummed that I won't be able to make it this year due to a lack of funds, though on the plus side I will be getting the keys to my first house later this month, so at least I'll finally have a place to show off my collection properly.
-
Congrats on becoming a homeowner and getting more than a receipt for rent each month for the money you spend for housing. The show was good and I am sure you will figure out a way to go in the future, even if with more limited funds for buying. Remember however, you can now claim to your spouse/significant other you are buying to decorate the house, not just for a hobby. :)

I don't know if you have ever been to the Mansfield show. But it blows the Gettysburg show away by far.
I have been to the Gettysburg summer and fall show many times and will go again this year to both. Well, it is Gettysburg .
-
no, never been to Mansfield. ill have to bucket list it. I like the Gettysburg show because, well like you said its Gettysburg.
-
I agree the Mansfield show is an excellent show and has been each year I have gone there. This year a James bolt that wanted to come home with me to be with some of his cousins in my collection. :)

Thanks. I've been there a few times before and picked up some good things over the years, including this ball that Carl might recognize.

wow. That's a nice James

Wow, now that's a "Top Shelf" James. Congrats.
-
Jon, you are such a braggart! After you snaked me out of that mint James bolt, I sat in the corner of the Hartz Building pouting for a few minutes (ok, maybe a little longer). But the James Fairy must've seen me and felt sorry for poor little me having been betrayed by one of my besties. So, she dropped this 3.8" James tie ring bolt in my lap, unfortunately not in time to give it to Carl for a good cleaning.
:P
-
Nice...I guess pouting does pay off. :)
-
No it doesn't, I pout all the time, it usually ends with me sleeping on the couch.
-
I've never seen a tie ring bolt. Super cool find. Congrats. Hope I get to clean it!

I thought I'd post some pics of Dave Gotters Award Winning Display at the Mansfield show. For anyone who hasn't seen it, it is amazing.

It is an incredible display and worth any long drive to see it if you like artillery. it is jaw dropping. Many thanks to Dave for all the work in designing the display, doing all the work to bring it to a show, set it up and take it down. Not to mention the cost of tables. Thank you.

I gave him my compliments on his display and told him it must be alot of work to set it all up. He said "yeah, and its heavy too !". :)
