Just found out from Steve Sylvia on Facebook that Mike O’Donnell had a stroke Sunday evening. Please keep him in your prayers.

Praying :(

About 30 minutes ago I received a very brief email from Steve Sylvia, saying only that Mike had a stroke on Sunday. So I phoned Mike's house. One of his sisters answered the phone. She said the stroke was a major one... at present, Mike cannot use his left side. But his mind is clear and he can talk. He is still in the hospital. Your prayers are appreciated.

Wow. RelicRunner and I spent quite a while talking to Mike on Saturday. He had just purchased a Read shell and was quite excited about it as it was dug by an old friend. Certainly wishing him a quick recovery. He is one of the good ones.

Since nobody seems to have heard anything further lately about Mike's current condition and prognosis, I called his house. One of his sisters answered and told me he is still in the hospital, receiving daily rehabilitative therapy. She gave me his hospital room telephone number. I called it, and had a long chat with Mike. The following information is directly from him.
The stroke (on Sunday Nov. 5th) removed most of the feeling in (and mobility of) his left side. In the three weeks since then, he has recovered some feeling in his left leg and arm. He can walk, but drags his left foot. His voice sounds a bit different, but he can talk as well as ever. His mind is quite lucid. He has a Positive attitude. he says he is determined to go metal-detecting for relics again.
At present he does not have access to the internet, but hopes to get it soon.
I told him about this group's concern and caring -- which he appreciates. He says he'll be back.
Regards,
Pete

My best to you, Mike. You are a great resource, and a wonderful friend to all, in this endeavor of knowledge and understanding of artillery. Maybe you will slow down enough now to get 'Lee's Thunderbolts " published !!

I'm posting this here to keep from derailing the letters-on-shells discussion. It's GREAT to see you posting, Mike. I'm also glad to see you got some Internet access somehow. Welcome back, my friend! :)
Merry Christmas, too.
