Here in San Antonio we're about 100 miles inland from where Harvey is expected to hit tonight. Watching the news its supposed to stop just south of here and do a 180 back to the gulf. But the weatherman can only guess. We've done all we can do to prepare for it, only thing left is the waiting.

Hang on and Be safe! I was less than a couple hundred miles inland when Katrina hit. Even so, it was extremely rough! Then 9 days with no electricity. Don't let distance and premature reports fool you. Prepare for worst. Y'all are in our prayers.

Here in San Antonio we missed the worst of Harvey. It came up to around 60 miles southeast of us before it stalled out. in 36 hours I only got 1 1/2 inch of rain.
Everyplace east of San Antonio all the way to Houston is catching the full fury of the storm from the high winds to the flooding.
Thanks for the well wished from everybody. They need it along the coastal areas that got hit with the winds and all the areas getting the heavy rainfall.

My youngest son lives in Houston. Friday night he and his wife were moved to a hotel on the high side of Houston by his company so he could work through the storm. It has some flooding. About an hour ago, he texted that his house, which this morning had a 99% chance of not flooding, will flood tomorrow. He is moving keepsakes and important papers to the attic. He is one of the lucky ones: he and his wife are safe, they have a plan to stay safe, and they have flood insurance. Please pray that they stay safe, and for others who are not as fortunate in this, the 500 year flood

Bryan, glad to hear that you didn't get much from Harvey.
Jimmy, prayers sent for you son and his wife and the incredibly large number of folks impacted by Harvey. We'll see where it heads in the next few days. Yesterday, last night and this morning we've had a few of the rain bands come through here with more to come today and tomorrow.

RJ, thanks. My oldest son and family are in Lake Charles - I'm suspecting you and they will see plenty of rain from round 2

misipirelichtr my heart goes out to your son and family. I hope everything goes well for them and they stay safe. Its just so hard to think of all the hardships going thru all these lives down in the affected areas.
RJ they say the remains of the storm is headed into Louisiana later this week so keep safe.

Staying in touch with my family down in Houston, my birthplace. So far, all above water, but its too close for comfort. Trees down though.

Jimmy, I'm thinking Lake Charles will definitely get a lot more rain. We've seen a bunch in a band early this morning but have had a break since then and are getting another band probably in 30 minutes. We'll keep seeing more bands until it makes landfall again tomorrow and then hopefully begins to move north. While we've had more than our fair share of rain we've been fortunate whereas the folks in Houston area have had the largest amounts and I do believe the Lake Charles and Cameron areas will get the most next. Can't forget our friends on the east coast getting more than they need of the rain from that tropical storm also.

So amazing how much rain is falling in some areas. Images take your breath away. I sure hope all goes as well as it can for you all. Three days of rain starting here tomorrow for Atlanta but it won't be anything of the magnitude the NW gulf area got and is getting.

Thanks eeryone for all your thoughts and prayers. Both sons are through the worst, safe and sound. RJ, hope the same is true for you and yours as well. Many, many others were not as fortunate. Insane to think 50+ inches of rain fell in some places.

Insane is right.....that is over 4 feet of water falling in a short period. Georgia, Arkansas and Kentucky among others average about 50 inches a year. Most states are less than that with Texas only averaging 29 inches per year.

Happy to hear Jimmy and I know it's a relief for you guys. Thankfully, our family did find, no issues. Our office personnel in our Lake Charles office did well also and all but one of our office personnel in our Houston office had no major issues or water in their home. Unfortunately, so many other folks have had devastation, so sad.
