Description:This is a brass slider from a Hotchkiss percussion fuse. It was recovered in the Spanish Fort / Fort Blakely, Alabama area where there was a major battle right at the end of the war. The nice thing about this slider is that the safety wire is intact. This went through a hole in the bottom of the fuse body and was held in place with a small lead plug. Upon firing the setback caused this plug to break away and the slider was free to move as intended.
