Description:This ingenious device allowed Confederate gunners to quickly convert their fuses from time to percussion, often after they had established the range. It consisted of a copper tube with an anvil disc. When the anvil disc was pressed down, a small serated knife blade on the end of it drove sparks into fulminate that in turn sent flame into the shell's bursting charge. This one is special in that the anvil disc/knife balde piece easily comes apart from the main tube body.
