Description:This presentation brass Civil War era spyglass is in good condition, with fair optics. There is some light damage to the wrapping material. The end eyepiece has been unscrewed and misplaced, but it could fairly easily be replaced if desired. Otherwise the optics appear to be fine.

It is engraved "Lt D. Cate 1861 USN". The US Navy and Marine Corps officers database has only one person this could be:
