Description:Dug from White Oak Swamp, this early Parrott wasn't much to look at on the outside, but cut open it reveals a gorgeous inside with case shot in the bright yellow matrix and the tin tube for the flame path and powder cavity. The remnants of the paper time fuse are still present and it is shoved down with what looks to be wood in the fuse hole. I think it must've hit a tree and gotten snuffed out. Really cool looking.
White Oak Swamp is a battleground in Virginia near where the Richmond airport is today. This battle is where Stonewall Jackson didn't use his infantry but only engaged in an artillery duel. This uncharacteristically poor behavior allowed the remaining Union forces to escape.
