Description:This is a very nice example of the 20 pounder long pattern Parrott round cut in half to show the interior.
This specimen used the wrought iron sabot stamped to help it take the rifling. The fuse is the sort Parrott zinc time fuse adapter. If you look close at the fuse hole you will notice that it is the stepped hole that could accommodate the early percussion fuse or the short time adapter. Later the fusing would be changed to take long time adapters and percussion fuses in a straight hole. The iron face is very nice and shows much better than the light made it look in my images. The outside surface is pretty good for a cut shell and shows the outside well.
I forgot to photograph the bottom and can for anyone interested. It is in good shape though it shows the disarming hole but that can be filled. I'll do that if the buyer would like me to.
The shell cavity is just like it was when the powder was washed out. There has been no cleaning and it is in nice shape. There is some normal rust inside that could be cleaned out if desired.
Shell is coated and, of course, disarmed.
