Description:
This type of bullet used to be called a Carcano or Garibaldi before Dean Thomas researched them and named them "Raleighs." The reasoning is that they were made at in Raleigh, North Carolina, at the North Carolina Institute for the Deaf, Dumb, and Blind. These issued specifically to North Carolina State Troops during the American Civil War.

What makes this one a bit more special ins the serrations visible on the bottom ring of the bullet. It is theorized that these were done to make the glue adhere better to the paper cartridge. Very few of these have serratoons and the thinking is this was an early test that was discontinued. I recently got over 25 .69 Raleighs and only 2 had the serrations.
