Highly desirable stand of grape in the hard-to-find 12pdr size. ex Jack Bell collection.

When I got it, I considered this to be basically an embarassment to an otheriwse magnificent collection because ithe had a modern bolt in it that looked like it had been purchased at Harbor Freight. The balls were a mixture of Trail Rock Arsenal steel shot and real ones.

I took it home like Charlie Brown & Linus who bought the inferior tree in Charlie Brown's Christmas. Then I thought about it for a couple years.

Fortunately, I found a source for more than enough CS 2" shot from Johnson's defenses in Atlanta that were recovered during the I-85 construction. I also had an original bolt in my parts bin.

One thing I did not do was coat everything in the same color because I thought this might look phoney and that I was trying to cover up something.

So, here's the rejuvenated Christmas tree. Faithfully saved from one of the greatest Civil War artillery collections ever assembled.
