Description:The shell made with he most varieties if not the Parrott has to be the Hotchkiss. It comes in so many calibers, fusings and profiles that it would be quite the hunt to get all the varieties.
This shell is a 3" shell employing the percussion fuse. As one would expect it has a body without flame grooves. The fuse in this example is in super condition and has a very nice greenish patina. The iron is uncleaned but is very good and displays nicely. For a small cost I could be convinced to run it through electrolysis if the buyer prefers. The bottom cup appears to be unmarked as most percussion seem to be in my experience though I don't know that is the case. The lead sabot has excellent rifling from the ordnance gun that fired it at the battle and siege of Vicksburg. It is very much intact and tight on the shell. This is a really nice shell.
Shell is inert, uncleaned and is coated.
