Description:This is the nose section with the sabot from a 3" Hotchkiss shell fired from an ordnance rifle. The guns 7 lands-n-grooves are clearly seen on the sabot. The iron exhibits some ground action but there are no big pits. it looks better in person than the images show. The fuse is in good shape with a nice dark coppery look. The lead sabot is intact with much of the whitish patina still in place. The shell is missing it's base cup but since the sabot is not deformed, a cup could be easily found to fit right into groove. All in all a good shell for the money. I often sell just the nose for this price.
Shell is inert, cleaned and coated.
