Description:This walked into the Franklin Show and I was fortunate to be able to acquire it. As with any solid shot balls you have to be careful because there are more out there that aren't cannon balls than are. So we had Mr. John Biemeck check this one out and he gave it a thumbs up! From the size and weight he deemed it a British 4 pounder ball from the period from the Revolutionary War to the War of 1812. John has collected tons of data to build tables showing US, CS, English, French, Spanish, etc. tables of various size shot to help us determine some origin. These can be found in his incredible books currently on the market.

The iron on this ball is pretty decent with only some moderate ground action and nothing large. It is in very good shape for its cost. The 4 pounder is not an easy size to get.

Projectile is cleaned and coated.
