Description:This is a really nice specimen of the much used Parrott artillery round by the US forces. Many were used in both the eastern and western campaigns. This shell is made for the 10 pounder 2.9 inch caliber gun.
At 8lb 11oz this is most likely a common shell. The fuse hole still contains a nice white remnant of the zinc paper time fuse adapter. The sabot is the nice thick pre-stamped iron version which shows good rifling from being fired. These were very good about not coming off when fired like their brass ring counterparts. The iron of the body is very good with only a very small amount of ground action mostly on one side. Generally the iron is very smooth.
Shell is inert, cleaned and coated.
