Description:We are frequently asked to help decided if the Bormann fuse in a cannon ball is Union or Confederate. In this case there is no doubt as the fuse has a very distinctive "US" (the "S" is backwards) on the fuse. Even nicer the fuse is unpunched and is in very good shape with every number visible. The iron uncleaned but coated and looks like it would clean up pretty decently if so inclined. I wouldn't call these balls rare but they are pretty uncommon and ones as good as this don't come up very often. Additionally this ball is case shot as it weighs 11lbs 7oz. The ball has been drilled in the side and you can see what appears to be yellow matrix though I can't confirm that.
Shell is inert, uncleaned and coated.
