Location Recovered: USS Dai Ching ambush site on Combahee River, SC

Description:Super rare projectile and the few that have been recovered are chipped like this one. Fired from a 4.62in Gibbon & Andrews rifle at the USS Dai Ching in January 1865. The Dai Ching sank in the river and this bolt was recovered at the attack site by Greg Craven, then sold to me a few years ago by Harry Ridgeway (see copy of his write up in pictures) when Harry took most of the artillery out of the Winchester Courthouse museum where it had been on display.
